Laura Jean and Flying Scribble

02/14/2009 - 21:00
Etc/GMT

Here is the official blurb for the gig.... I didn't write it ok? I am not big headed enough to call myself a graceful diamond of folk just yet. Let alone Joan of Arc. I'll get there one day though. :)

$10 - 9pm, Sat 14th Feb 2009 ANYTIME PLACE 20 Ovens Street Brunswick

Come Kings and Queens of hearts, the jaded and the smitten, singles or double and enjoy two much loved bands in romantic rapture together for the first time.

Laura Jean, the graceful diamond of folk will share new and old songs with all on this intimate occasion. Singularly assured and strikingly beautiful, Laura and her four piece band present you with truly original music suffused with an otherworldly atmosphere. Drenched in dreams, honesty and bravery, Laura is the 'Joan of Arc' of local independent musicians forging a new and undiscovered musical path directed by her subconscious. ( www.myspace.com/edenland ) Similarly, Flying Scribble are a two piece band without classification. Despite this their music strangely envelopes you into a deeply familiar place. Part jazzy, part spooky, part spacy, truly esoteric, their idiosyncratic pop sits askew to all genres, marking a place that only they inhabit. Drama, image, costume, the voice all rolled together with organ and drums, taking you on a fun and furious journey into the hearts and minds of two great friends who create music even they have a hard time explaining. All this plus acrobatic dance routines by Circus Trick Tease, broken-hearted silent theatre vignettes by Vladimir the Crow, guest DJ's and photo booths.
